OUR PURPOSE
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Ministries Supported by BWELCA
One of the ministries we work closely with is the Lutheran World Relief program. They work with local partners to provide lasting solutions to poverty. The goal of LWR is to improve the lives of millions of small-scale farmers and their families, and to help them adapt to and mitigate the effects of changing weather and environmental conditions.
There are a number of ways that we have partnered with LWR to help with their mission.

The Busy Bee Quilters
(Mission Quilts)
The Busy Bee Quilters is a group of volunteers who gather every Tuesday (September - May) from 9:00AM until noon to make quilts. Finished quilts are then shipped to Lutheran World Relief where the need is great. All are welcome to assist in this worthy cause.

School Kits
Throughout the year we collect school supplies to assemble School Kits for children. Why school supplies? To the children who receive School Kits, these supplies mean the difference between getting an education or not. Public school is usually free, but in the places where LWR works, even a few required supplies, like pens and paper, may be more than many families can afford. And when parents can only afford to send one of their children to school, girls rarely get priority…yet the education level of mothers has the biggest impact on development.

Soap
Soap. It is an item that many purchase without a second thought. We use it to wash our hands. We use it wash our bodies. We are fortunate to have access to such a life saving product. You read that right. Soap is life saving! Proper hand washing greatly reduces the spread of many diseases. BWELCA collects NEW, FULL SIZED bars of bath soap all year to send to this worthy cause.
